US Troops Killed in the Philippines
US troops in Philippines confined to camp after blast US soldiers movements limited to camp following the explosion on Tuesday that killed two of them and a Filipino Marine. The Armed Forces of the Philippines has also doubled the Americans' security and reinforced detachments and deployed additional quick-reaction forces in Sulu.
The Tuesday explosion, which also wounded two Filipino soldiers, was the first deadly attack on US forces deployed in Mindanao since a soldier in a restaurant was killed in 2002 by a bomb on a motorcycle parked outside.
Abu Sayyaf bandits trained by bomb experts of the regional terror group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) were behind the Tuesday explosion in Indanan and another that went off in a police outpost two hours later in Patikul.
