“Exporting in the Asian Century - The Dynamics of Success”

Advance Review Title Release “Exporting in the Asian Century - The Dynamics of Success”

Authors: Dr Anura Amarasena and Dr Sisira Colombage

The business opportunities presented by Asia are enormous. The key question for businesses around the world is: ‘Are you ready for the Asian century?’

Most of the literature on exporting is based on a developed-to-developing country context, which argues that the use of the internet assists firms to export successfully to any part of the world. This perspective ignores the exporters’ concerns about the culture and business practices of the importers. Is the internet really the only factor for the success of modern export firms?

Asia is a diverse region; businesses need to develop a deep understanding of the market’s dynamics, culture and business practices to harness the opportunities and overcome the threats arising in the new economy.

Using the export relationship between Australia and Sri Lanka as an extensive case study, this book provides the excellent opportunity for readers to gain a wide understanding of how businesses can strategically develop their capabilities to engage and succeed in Asian markets.
