Police arrest eight in West Papua Mimika residents













A joint team comprised of members of the Police and the Densus 88 counterterrorism squad arrested Monday eight residents of Mimika for their alleged involvement in recent attacks on U.S-mining firm PT Freeport Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Army officers arrived at Moses Kilangin Airport in Mimika on Monday afternoon on a mission to safeguard Freeport following the attacks, which claimed the lives of two of its employees. Employees have been prevented from working in Tembagapura and tight security has been enacted along the road to the mine.
