The Australian Government should not muck about in these
matters. Whether it is the Saudi Government or the Malaysia Government
the response should be the same to any officially sanctioned violence
against women. Call in the Ambassador and say "We choose who our
friends are and our friends do not include governments who treat women
abominably. The next offence will result in severing of diplomatic
relations. A further offence will lead to the expulsion of Malaysian
students. Then we move to banning all visas for all Malaysian citizens.
Next is a ban on all Malaysian products." Someone has to set a
standard and it may as well be Australia. In case one of your astute
readers asks the question, yes, we should have the same attitude to any
nation which condones slavery or other gross violations of human rights.
Kerry, your insights are very valuable. No surprise that your novels
are replete with astonishing authenticity.

--
http://michaeldarby.net
please note my telephone numbers
0413 348 843 voice
0402 558 947 textKerry B.
